Social networks: The scourge of our time

Social networks: The scourge of our time

Brain

Today I want to talk about the scourge of our time – social networks. Thanks to their ability to adapt to the interests, temperament and social background of a particular person, they absorb us completely. How does this happen?
The human brain, like the body during physical exercise, consumes enormous amounts of energy during intense work. The body, guided by economy, tries to avoid such expenses, giving signals not to do so. A person does not want to dig a hole, just as he does not want to think much about the task. However, if we overcome ourselves, significant changes occur: muscles grow if we dig a hole, and the brain forms new neural connections when solving problems.

The process of forming new neural connections is called synaptogenesis. This involves the formation of synapses—contacts between neurons through which they transmit signals. Both processes are very energy intensive. How does a person manage to overcome himself? What motivates him?
The hormone oxytocin!

Oxytocin

Oxytocin, known as the “love hormone,” plays a key role in reducing stress and increasing feelings of satisfaction. In a physiological sense, it is not addictive like drugs or alcohol. However, in a psychological sense, we can talk about a tendency to behavior that stimulates its repeated release. People seek situations that evoke happiness, love, or affection, such as hugging, kissing, social interactions, or social activities. Of course, oxytocin is released when a hole is dug or a schoolboy has learned a poem.
However, oxytocin is also released when scrolling through social media. We don’t have to exert any effort, but oxytocin is still released. There is no counter force. That’s why social media is so dangerous and captivates us so much.

Clip thinking

Clip thinking is a term that describes the style of information perception characteristic of modern digital society. It is characterized by fragmentation and superficiality of perception, as well as a low ability for long-term concentration. Main aspects of clip thinking:

Fragmentation of information: People consume information in small, short fragments, often without connecting them into a single whole. Examples include short YouTube videos, social media posts, and news headlines.
Low ability to concentrate: Moving from one piece of information to another reduces the ability to concentrate for a long time, making it difficult to comprehend in-depth.
Fast Information Processing: Clip thinking requires rapid processing of information, which can lead to superficial understanding of complex topics.
Impact of technology: The Internet, social networks and digital devices enhance clip thinking. Constantly updating news feeds and notifications on smartphones contribute to a constant shift in attention.
Critical Thinking: Decreased ability to concentrate and analyze deeply can negatively impact critical thinking and informed decision making.

Scientific research shows that clip thinking has both positive and negative consequences. On the one hand, people quickly adapt to changing conditions and quickly process information. On the other hand, superficial perception of information can lead to insufficient understanding of complex topics and a decrease in the ability to solve problems.
And, of course, for a full life without understanding complex topics, artificial intelligence comes to our aid. We may be witnessing the birth of a new biological species of humans. Whether this is good or bad, life will tell.

Here. It hurt – he spoke out. Got a dose of oxytocin.

I want to share with you the amazing story of how our team is building the future.

I want to share with you the amazing story of how our team is building the future.

Our team has been working on significant and exciting projects related to sustainable development in the fields of business, economics and law for many years. We realized that it was time to become more proactive in self-sufficiency. For this purpose, we created a public organization, a consumer cooperative. We began to fill it with goods and services and were faced with a shortage of IT specialists. What to do? The solution came naturally – we decided to independently develop the software we needed. However, it soon became clear that we needed reliable hosting for our products. We quickly created it, but encountered unexpected problems: bombings and blackouts threatened the stability of our projects.

But we didn’t give up and found a solution – we installed solar panels and batteries. We expected them to be a backup power source, but the result exceeded expectations. Solar panels and batteries became the main source of power, and the state power grid became a backup. For three months now, our hosting has been running entirely on solar energy. On rare cloudy days, we need very little power from the network, which completely covers our needs.

At the time of writing, our hosting hosts more than a dozen virtual machines, over 20 websites and online stores. We invite you to join our team and post your information with us.

We are ready to implement projects of any complexity: from standard websites and online stores to unique web applications created specifically for your needs. We develop software for web architecture so that your ideas become reality.

Join us on our journey to a sustainable future!

Science Facts About the Benefits of a Landscape Screen

Science Facts About the Benefits of a Landscape Screen

Welcome to the exciting world of traditional screen orientation! Let’s look at this issue from a scientific point of view and find out why a horizontal screen may be the ideal choice for many of us.

Ergonomics: Research shows that horizontal screen orientation is generally more comfortable for human vision and can reduce eye strain and fatigue. This is because the eyes are naturally oriented horizontally, so viewing content on a standard screen can be more natural and comfortable.

Peripheral Vision: Human peripheral vision is better developed horizontally than vertically. This is due to the anatomical structure of the eye and the distribution of cones and rods on the retina. A horizontal screen layout better suits this aspect of vision, allowing the viewer to take in a larger area of the screen without having to move their head or eyes.

Vision ergonomics: Viewing content on a horizontal screen can reduce eye fatigue and neck strain. When viewing horizontally, the eyes naturally move from side to side, which is more relaxing and less tiring for the eye muscles than when moving vertically.

User Preferences: User interface and usability experiments show that most people prefer a horizontal screen layout for watching videos, working with documents, and playing games. This preference is based on both physical comfort and efficiency in processing visual information.

Video Format: Most video is shot and intended to be viewed in a landscape orientation, which matches the format of human vision and the natural field of view that covers more horizontal space.

Thus, scientific facts confirm the benefits of traditional orientation. This is not just a preference, but an informed decision based on ergonomics, cognitive aspects and communication. Let’s welcome traditional orientation as a symbol of convenience, efficiency and better perception of information! And say no to those people who promote the idea of using a screen in a non-natural way.

Computer network. How to understand this phenomenon in 5 minutes.

Computer network. How to understand this phenomenon in 5 minutes.

Personally, I could not understand the essence of the phenomenon for a very long time due to the lack of a description in an understandable language for ordinary citizens. But when I figured it out, I realized that I could explain it “on the fly” for people who come across computer network terms in everyday life and don’t understand what they’re talking about.

Watch your fingers.

Device IP address. The essence is a network device that can receive and transmit information. An analogy is an object that wants to receive and send parcels.

Protocol. Method of transmitting information. Parcels can be sent by sea, plane, car, pipeline. Those. use different protocols.

Learn more about protocols. For example, the common IP protocol. This means by sea. The ship with the parcel must arrive at one of the destination ports. The addressee has 65535 ports. When the addressee receives (or does not receive) the parcel, the ship will sail with a response to the sending IP address to the port from which it carried the parcel, with information whether the addressee received the parcel or not.

The UDP protocol is all the same, but the ship does not sail back.

Parcels refused by the recipient are thrown into the sea.

Each of the protocols is a whole and fascinating world. But this article is not about that.

That’s the whole point. You just need to use analogies to understand what is said here. And then you can improve in this direction ad infinitum. I hope I have given the key to understanding computer networks.
